A photo with the Vice Chancellor – Mr Baloiloi….

I arrived in Lae on Saturday, 16th of April. The following Tuesday the Department of Business (DBS) organised a dinner at one of the local chinese restaurants (Aviat Club) to formally welcome a candidate for Head of Department (HOD). Note that the position of Head of Department has been open for a number of years. On this occasion there was only one candidate for the position. It turns out that he has been offered the position but as far as I’m aware has not yet accepted. All in good time, all in PNG time !!!

During the dinner the acting Head of Department : John G. took the opportunity to welcome me to UNITECH as the newest member of DBS. What a great welcome !!! I was on cloud nine for a couple of days and couldn’t get over what a friendly bunch of people I now work with. Of course during the evening I took the opportunity to take my new camera for a test run and results you can see for yourself in the following photo album:

Dinner with the Vice Chancellor

Towards the end of the evening I went over and introduced myself to the Vice Chacellor (Mr Misty Baloiloi). By the way this is the only time that I have “bumped” into the VC since arriving at UNITECH.

Interesting to note that on the evening there was no alcohol consumed. I have since found out that most of the staff do not drink alcohol but there are a few. It turns out that the VC has quite strict views on alcohol and it turns out that he was paying the bill on the evening : so therefore no beers !!
