PNG is described as the Land of the Unexpected. But what about those times between the unexpected? What about those times when nothing much is happening and things are quiet? What then?
Well, what can I say? At times nothing much happens and it gets pretty boring. No car, no friends, no family, no good coffee shops, no cinemas and no “lose” women (working on this one). I have dreaded boredom as far back as I can remember and continually seek ways to alleviate the emptiness. Perhaps one of the reasons I ended up here in PNG. Surprise, surprise… “me”goes with “me” everywhere.
Emptiness and boredom : one of the reasons I never married. I have this notion that if I were married, I would eventually die of boredom, turned to stone one night in front of the TV whilst my wife was preparing dinner in the kitchen. She would call out : “Rob…. Rob….” …..just silence.
Boredom, some people deal with it better than others. I’m one of those others.
Distractions. Distractions. I need more distractions !!!
Something to meditate on….

And your lady friend? did you break up with her?
E,
I met Eli in September 2005 and we are still together. You will note that the above post was written on the 24th of August 2005 – exactly what did or did not transpire between August 2005 and September 2005 is worthy of a chin-wag over a roudy beer or a quiet coffee.
