A few weeks ago I happened to be passing through the main gate back into campus when a fight broke out at the bus stop.

I quickly pulled out my camera and started to click….

Things happened so quickly. They normally do here when trouble breaks out in a public place. Within seconds people become mobilised together with much shouting and running around. The group seems to “move” as one. Interesting to observe this “group” behaviour. If trouble breaks out at home, as a rule, people generally disperse like crazy. Here it’s the exact opposite. This phenomena has always triggered fear for me, I sense the unpredictability of the crowd. There are certainly times when it’s safer to remain an observer.

The main gate leading in and out of campus is also known as Unigate. The buses leave from here and go in either direction : either in town direction or towards Tent Siti and beyond. There are always people gathered at Unigate, day and night. There are buai and smoke sellers. Students and residents from the Taraka suburbs and settlements. Cars, buses and trucks are always driving past. People waiting to catch a bus or people just hanging around.

Nothing like some free entertainment to break the monotony !!

So, I pulled out my camera as fast as I could and started to go click, click, click… not the best photos I have taken but hopefully they still catch the “spirit” of the bus stop outside the main entrance to UNITECH commonly known as Unigate.
