End of year exams for the students at UNITECH got under way today. Within academia, exams are a very busy time for both students and staff. A bit like the busy period experienced by companies at the end of a financial period. Hectic !!
The pass/fail system… in my opinion not the most effective method of gauging someone's competency. I guess that in a world where competition lies at the very foundation of many of our social and financial structures, the pass/fail approach is an excellent introduction to the young student into this principle of competition or win/lose.
What do you think would happen if a model of cooperation rather than competition was adopted within our society? Within a competitve society few win and most lose. In a society where cooperation is encouraged everyone wins !! What impact would a cooperative approach have on war, violence and hunger?
The very best wishes to all students sitting for exams this coming week.
