Every lunch time (well, almost every lunch time), out the front of Duncanson Hall, the lads from the Audio Visual Unit (AVU) are doing a “thriving” business selling popcorn.
For 80t (around 30c) you can purchase a fresh bag of popcorn. Extra salt provided for free.
Whenever I have the time (which is most days), I pop in for a bag of popcorn. Apart from being reasonably priced the popcorn is the nicest I have eaten for a long time. Also, a crowd normally gather around the vending machine and wherever a crowd gather in PNG, jokes, laughter and stories normally flow.
During my lunch break…. I like to retreat into my own space… have a break from people and the world so to speak. A leftover from my Local Government days : always take time off for lunch, tends to clear the head in preparation for a productive afternoon back at the desk. So…. with the local newspaper in hand and a bag of popcorn, I find a nice quiet spot, sit down, munch away and read the local news.
In the meantime I better get cracking with that marking….
