Last Wednesday evening the staff from the Department of Business Studies ventured out for a dinner at the local Aviat club. As well as celebrating the end of another academic there was a formal handover of the Department Head. John G. had been in the position of Acting HOD (Head of Department) for a number of years, in fact DBS has not had a substantive Head of Department for close to 8 years !! The new Head of Department is an american professor from Arizona by the name of Dr. Raymond (see photo below)…
Dr. Raymond is the gentleman in the middle with the VC on Dr. R's right and the Registrar on Dr. R's left.
The food was great and the evening was a success. Everyone appeared to have an enjoyable time. As is usual in PNG on occasions such as this one, there wasn't a shortage of speeches. The VC would have to take 1st prize for longest speech of the evening and Dr R. might have set a record for the shortest speech ever given in PNG.
