Thanks to the generosity of the folks back home…

…the happy faces continue to “flood” in.

Saturday just gone, Jerry and his family popped around home. They were on the way back from their gardens. After making coffee for the grownups and some cold drinks for the kids I started to hand out some of the clothes donated to me by family and friends. I also gave the two youngest a super-ball each and Jerry’s daughter, an excercise book with some coloured textures.

…everyone was joyous, especially the kids !!!

Sunday evening was something else… at around 6pm I headed down to the markets at the Madang Settlement, to buy some fruit. I took with me some of those “glowing rods” (thanks Couz!). After I finished buying some fruit I started to hand out some of these to the local kids. You should have been there! Did the people go off!! Old and young alike. I brought around 20 of the rods with me and of course there wasn’t enough to go around. The lucky kids were on cloud nine and I received feedback later that night that the “lucky” kids were “unlucky” enough to be chased by the “unlucky” kids. As there is no power in the settlement it turns out that these “lucky” kids found it very hard to get away from the “unlucky” kids. These glowing rods go all night so it would have been quite a commotion down at the block Sunday night. Unfortunately no photos. Sori tru!

And this morning…

…I was fortunate to get a visit from my dear friend Eli and Junitor (Rondi’s grand-daughter). Eli got a watch (thanks Mum!)…
