Meet Anthony…

There is a new AVI (Australian Volunteers International) volunteer on campus. Anthony arrived last Saturday after spending one week in Port Moresby doing Tok Pisin and PNG culture training. This brings the total number of AVI volunteers on UNITECH campus to a grand total of three

Two PNG friends gone within one week…

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post Simon the gardener passed away sometime Tuesday night at Angau Hospital in Lae. Unfortunately there was also another “death” within the past week

Simon the Gardener – RIP – 28th of March 2006

Simon the gardener passed away last night in Angau Hospital. I have only just found out and have already shed a tear or two. One of my 1st PNG friends in Lae and a man I would describe as a true survivor

Eli…

Eli generally stays me weekends and yesterday evening she asked me if I could take some photos of the two of us. We pulled faces and had a grand old time in the process. These photos can be viewed in the Friends photo album

UNITECH SRC Elections 2006

The UNITECH Student Representative Council (SRC) elections took place last Thursday and Friday on campus. I was told late Friday that 1500 out of the 2000 Unitech students took part and voted. Not a bad turn out !!

Oa…

A “Ihu” word meaning “father”.

Last Saturday I headed to the Lae International Airport (Nadzab) with Goasa and his family to meet and pickup Goasa’s Dad. I have known and worked with Goasa (same office) now for close to 12 months and have been looking forward to this meeting for some time

Eriku…

Last Saturday on my way back from Nadzab (Lae airport) after picking up Goasa’s Dad we had a stopover at Eriku to do a quick shop

The weekend…

A quick summary of my weekend

I have a confession to make…

Today was the first time : anyone, anywhere, anytime has slowly, surely and meticulously removed
