A few weeks ago I ventured once agian into West Taraka and gave away some more clothes and a few toys. Like always the experience helping these people is beyond words – one that inevitably brings a smile to many faces.
The kids you can see in the above photo are all relatives of Eli and all live in the West Taraka settlement. This settlement is located about half an hour walk from the UNITECH campus. The locals refer to West Taraka as the “Wild West” – due to the high raskol element. I get told again and again by many people not to venture into these parts. I am certainly happy to ignore advice on this occasion as the risk is bloody well worth it !! (Some even tell me that West Taraka is being watched closley by the CIA and ASIO – I say bullshit to this)
Keep those 2nd clothes and the toys flowing !!
Photos from this give-away can be viewed in the West Taraka photo album (look for photos taken on the 19th of March).
