(Flyer for the new School – click for enlarged view)
The role of a volunteer can be wide and varied and I have certainly looked beyond the walls of UNITECH for opportunities to assist – there is definitely a joy in giving and helping.
The premises at the Telikom College used by the new class was something that I had organised for John through another PNG friend of mine Sidia Pokopia. Sidia is the Executive Director of the Training College and a close friend. We both concurred that any assistance or support that either of us could give to John would be well worthwhile. The activities available to the youth in Lae are very limited and the work that John Wal is doing with these kids is exceptional. John is a great role model to the PNG youth and a man whose actions are certainly aligned with his words.
I have setup a photo album called Kickboxing and this album contains the photos I managed to capture at the opening class on the 10th of April. Other photos from the school in Lae town can also be viewed in this album.
