Thanks to my mate Steve Bosci from Open Integration a package arrived this week with a couple of “goodies”:
1) A DVD Reader
2) The latest version of the Novell/Suse Desktop
I sent an email to Steve a couple of weeks ago asking him if he could send me the latest version of the Novell Desktop on CD media. Steve said that it was only released on DVD and I mentioned that it was no use to us here at UNITECH as there are no PC’s with DVD readers around. Steve said : no worries mate… I’ll send a DVD reader in the mail with the software.
So… yesterday morning I received some paper work from the main post office in town suggesting that I needed to supply an invoice (to calculate import duties) and come in a see the customs agent. So at lunch time I headed in expecting to have to pay some K’s at the time of package pickup. It must have been my lucky day… it turns out that anything below the value of K250 is exempt from any taxes and my item came in at K249..86 !!! I told the customs agent that on leaving the post office I was going to buy a lottery ticket !! (I didn’t but…).
Anyway – the moral of the story is that someone from downunder comes to the rescue once again. Thanks a million Steve and my regards to the lads from OI.
