I have decided to catch the boat with my mate Jerry and his father to Finschhafen this morning. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, Jerry lost his son recently and I want to be with him to give him moral support.
When I lost my Dad back in 2001 many friends turned up both to the funeral service and also the wake that had never met Dad. I realised afterwards why they turned up… they were there on the day to give me the support and love I desperately needed. I have never forgotten how much I appreciated their company and presence on the day.
So it's now my turn to pass on this act of kindness on to someone else.
I will be gone for one night and all things going well should be back in Lae sometime on Saturday afternoon.
