Today’s been one of those days…

I’ve worked really hard but don’t seem to have got far at all. Right
now I’m looking at a pile of marking and just looking at it is certainly
not making it go away

Exams…

Never really liked exams much. This morning I supervised two exams for my final year group (IS422) and I can’t help but remember what exams are like for me

Mr and Mrs “Oink”…

now have names! Boy pig: “Prof” and Girl pig: “Princess”. “Prof” and Princess” are settling in very nicely and I get the feeling they are thoroughly enjoying their new home

Meeting with a School Board

Today I had the opportunity to address the board members of the Duna Elementary School in West Taraka. The school has had a half finished classroom sitting idle for the past six months, each time I would walk past the unusable classroom I would feel both sorry and a little angry

Oink…. Oink…. !!

Yep Mr and Mrs Piggy have arrived. This morning at 7:30am on my doorstep. Thanks Uncle Joel! All the way from Kaubasis – Simbu. The search for “what shall we call them” – now starts in in earnest. I can already taste that bacon!

For the next three days…

I’m going to be flat out!! The PNG University games are on this weekend starting today. Teams from most tertiary institutions around the country have turned up for three days of competition and sport

Back at work…

after yesterday’s visit to Wagang-Luhu. In the end I had close to a three hour wait at the Rainbow Store in town for the PMV/truck. I started waiting at around 9:30am and left Lae in the PMV at around 12:30pm. The wait went very quickly – as around the Rainbow Store there are many street sellers and colourful characters

Today….

I’m heading off to Wagang-Luhu for the day. After I few days of intense marking I need a bit of a breather plus I promised my friend Jethro (Wagang-Luhu clan elder) that I would come and visit him. The original plan was to stay for two or three nights (on the beach) but there is just too much work on at the moment to take that many days off work

A couple of things that irk me…

Firstly, queues in PNG have absolutely no meaning whatsoever. One walks into a store or shop to buy something and the person with the longest arm always gets served first. Most people have absolutely no regard whatsoever for the fact that someone is there already waiting

Marking…

Marking and more marking!!
