Today…

The following holds true:

1) I appear to have contracted the big “M” once again. 3rd time lucky! Hit myself last night with a superdose of Lariam (Mefloquin) – this has worked in the past – so fingers crossed. I still feel like absolute shit nevertheless have come into work today… as there is no point in sitting at home : feeling sorry for myself.

2) Pigs are high maintenance animals! So I am finding out. Eating machines they are. As long as there is always plenty of food and you give them the odd scratch behind the ears they seem to be as happy as a “pig in shit”. “Prof” and “Princess” Oink are doing well thank you very much.

3) Three more teaching weeks including this week. After that one week study break and then exam week! The home stretch I think they call it. Sure be glad to see the tail end of this institution. Working with the students has been great and I'm going to miss them dearly.

4) Rugby finals this coming weekend. The team from Business Studies is once again in the grand finals. Fingers crossed, this year they will come off victorious.

5) The pineapples planted by Simon the Gardener at home 12 months ago are now finally starting to fruit. The 1st one has already been picked and eaten. My taste buds eagerly await the ripening of a further six. Simon planted a total of around 60 pineapple seedlings in my garden.

6) I continue to buy and read both national newspapers everyday. Post Courier and The National. Stories are mostly crap but the crosswords are great!

7) Tonight I will attend the weekly Rotary meeting at the Lae International Hotel. I have been given a short slot to present myself to the club. Nowadays, I look forward to any opportunity to speak in public. There is definitely a born entertainer within.

9) I have a class starting 5 minutes ago…  better bolt!
