Double bugga…!!
A few of the ladies in the administration office were kind enough to organise a sweep for that great Australian icon : Melbourne Cup. I have fond memories of past sweeps although on most occasions I never bothered to watch the actual race itself – it has always seemed silly to watch a bunch of horses racing around a track.
The tickets in yesterday's sweep for going for K2 each – so I bought a grand total of five:
“Ice Chariot”
“Dizelle”
“Short Pause”
“Demerger”
“Railings”
Thought I was a sure thing for a prize !
No such luck!!
As an old friend of mine used to say when referring to his luck:
“Wouldn't get a start in a brothel with a ten weight bag” !!
The 2nd “bugga” from the double “bugga” refers to the unannounced cancellation of this morning's Departmental meeting. A classic example of what I am beginning to label as good old fashioned PNG unreliability. Shame it has to happen within the School of Business Studies. Punctuality, reliability and consistency are very much a part of sound business practice and management.
Can I suggest to some:
Time to start walking the walk and stop talking the talk…
