Precession…

Is defined as (in my own words): “Our true purpose in life will remain unknown to us and occurs at 90 degrees to the path we walk. Just like the bee busy making honey has a deeper purpose in the big scheme of things through it’s involvement in the process of cross-pollination”

Back in Goroka

With all my material possessions (literally) in tow I arrived back safely in Goroka last night after spending a week in  Lae

My VISA expires shortly…

With my VISA expiring on the 31st of March and my passport with AVI in Moresby not sure what is happening

Nice to be in Lae again!

We have been in Lae since late last week. Eli travelled down by PMV last Thursday and I flew down with Air Link around lunchtime Friday. Great to see the old haunts and catch-up with some of the locals. Been staying at Geoff’s (fellow vollie) and have enjoyed the few days

And today my dear readers

A point form post!

Our dream home!

The construction of our own traditional Simbu village dwelling is about to commence. We had an unexpected visitor today, Uncle Joel. Apart from dropping in some garden food for us we also took the opportunity to discuss various aspects of the building of a “haus kunai” including design, required tools, workers and gifts in kind

The sound of AC/DC…

We left home early this morning for a day trip to Eli’s village in Simbu Province (Kaubasis). It was only going to be a short stay as we wanted to be back in Goroka late afternoon and before dark

Where are the photos?

Some say a photo is equivalent to a thousand words, that may very well be true, but I reckon there are times – when words are able to describe moments that photos just cannot capture!

“A simple truth”

My thoughts determine what I say,
and what I say determines my actions,
my actions then determine who I am.

As Eli prepares dinner…

I sit with laptop on lap and reflect on some things Papua New Guinean. It is becoming clearer to me that if I was to spend another twenty years working and living in this country, I would still not fully understand the Melanesian way of life and doing things
