Have finally managed to make contact with the local Rotary Club and
have attended meetings over the past month. The Club is currently busy
organising the “Tru-Kai” fun run. This run takes place every year in
different towns around Papua New Guinea and this year we are raising
money to support the local athletes participating in the South Pacific
Games.
Rotary is a means for me to get involved in local
Community projects and general service. Its also a way for me to meet
other expats working in Goroka and to network a little with local
business and community leaders. The Lae Club seemed a little better
organised and was certainly more structured nevertheless the local
Rotary folks are doing a great job considering their small numbers.
