Is slow and expensive!
I have been signed up with Datec; one of the four local ISP's offering
dialup services, for a couple of months. And just to give you an idea of the
cost involved.
I'm on what they call a Biznet Flexible Plan which allows a download of
400Mb per month and costs me K320 per month (AU$150). For excess usage I get
charged an additional 80t (AU35c) per Mb. To top it off the phone calls are
timed by Telekom PNG and are charged per minute!!
There are cheaper plans but what's the point in going on a plan that has a
20Mb or 80Mb download limit per month? Not even enough to download Virus
pattern updates let alone Microsoft patches.
Clinton Foundation to the rescue!!
Because of the consulting work I'm currently doing for the Clinton
Foundation they have kindly offered to pay my ISP monthly bills and also my
Telekom bill to cover the ISP dialup charges.
Onya Bill!!!
I promise never to crack another Monica Lewinsky (or cigar) joke ever
again!!
