It's what I've been doing a lot of this week – really nice to have the
flexibility to be able to work from home. Never done much of it in the past
as I have always seen home as the place to get away from work. Besides,
there are too many distractions and one probably would not get much done
anyway. Wrong! The past few days I have been working on the IT Plan and
Budget and its sure been a productive couple of days.
The LCD on my laptop is still playing up and I am using that as an excuse
not to cart the laptop into work. Not sure how long the LCD will hang in
there for – it could pack it in any day. Fingers crossed.
Just getting back to the Teleworking thing…
I have never been sure if I had the discipline to work from home. The fact
is that there are distractions and its all too easy to digress with other
stuff around the home – like naps and coffee and more naps. The past few
days I have actually surprised myself with how much I've been able to get
done. I probably got twice as much done at home than I would have back at
the office. People walking in for a chat – phone call here – a visitor there
- a bit of a newspaper read – a short chat with the boss. It all adds up.
So here we are 6:37pm Goroka time and I'm still at my desk. With the
work-work finished now catching up on some emails and doing a little
blogging. It all requires discipline.
The garden is churning out more and more vegies and most nights we manage to
eat home grown goodies! I've said it before and I'll probably say it another
100 times – the fresh food in the Highlands is a cracker.
Little Isaac Boss (Eli's adopted son) is turning out to be quite a cry baby.
The good old days of just being able to “hand the kid back” appear to have
vanished! There he goes again… unbelievable. I still refuse to change a
nappy. Perhaps, one day perhaps – if I am ever so lucky to have my own kids
- the “no nappy” and “no toilet” policy might change.
That's about it folks – tis now 6:44pm and I think I might have a short
meditation before tucker.
The Land of the Unexpected… you better believe it!!!
