Free and Open Source Software - sounds great doesn't it!!
Nothing for nothing!
The software might very well be for free but it does come at a price - the know how!
A bit like owning a british motorbike… you gotta be a mechanic to ride one. Owners swear by them. Just like with Linux! “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintenance” or “Linux and the Art of…”.
Have put getting my hands dirty for years and now the time has come where I just can't put it off any further. Ever been there?
That's one of the things I love about this industry (ITC) - there's always something new to learn. And whilst I'm on the learning curve… there'll been pains and frustrations, and more pains and frustrations. And then what?
A vision was born some time ago…
It's now time to get my hands dirty.

I left Microsoft Windows 2.5 years ago precisely because it was built like a Ford. That is 'Fix Or Repair Daily'. I don't mind getting my hands dirty if I absolutely must, but I'd rather not. I have been using PCLinuxOS for a year now and during that period I can count the number of times that I've had to use the command line on one hand. I'm not much of a mechanic but I'm sure you could name a vehicle that's so reliable that it could have its bonnet weld shut. That's been my experience with GNU/Linux.
