Mum visits the “Hut”

Standing next to Mum as we both stood in front of the “Hut” for the first time was one of those magic moments in life.

Last Wednesday we headed out to Kaubasis, I wanted to take advantage of having the Nissan for one more day and show Mum the place. I also had some “stuff” which I wanted to take out – eg: the two pigs: “Prof” and “Princess”. By early evening we were back in Goroka safe and in one piece.

This coming Saturday is the “official” opening of the “Hut” – we plan to go back and stay for a few days. This will be another opportunity for Mum to immerse herself in the local culture and experience village/clan life from real close-up. This evening – Mum, Eli and Uncle Joel should be on Manam Island – staying in the home of the local chief. It’s already turning out to be an incredible adventure for her and she will have many a story to share when she returns. The last time I spoke with her was this morning and she sounded well.

She’s quiet a gutsy “old” lady our dear Mum.

The clan comes out to meet us at Kau…
