Update…

Point form follows:
- Had a great three days out at the “Hut”. Jules, an AVI volunteer, joined
us out at the village and had a great time. On Sunday morning - just after
waking up - I had a strong urge to stay on for a few more days. Something
about staying in our own place out at the village that feels very nurturing.
- “Manam” our cat also joined us. He came with us on the PMV and is a great
little travelling companion. By the way, we realised only the other day that
“Manam” is a boy-cat and not a girl-cat, as we had originally thought.
- Our pig - “Princess”… is pregnant!! And “Prof” has been relocated.
- On the Sunday afternoon we had our 3rd meeting at the village to discuss
the forming of an Association. Leaders and elders from eight separate clans
were present. I addresses the group for about 30 mins and the feeling
amongst the locals is very positive. Our challenge… to take the best of
the old and the new - into the future. Certainly no mean task.
- The media continue to report on violence by PNG men towards their women
folk. It's absolutely disgusting what goes on. The terms cruelty, violation
or abuse are all understatements to describe the level of physical
annihilation that PNG men are capable of towards their partners.
Unbelievable!
- I continue to play around with Linux and am now well and truly on the
“path”. Only yesterday I managed to dialup my ISP from Ubuntu after setting
up a dialup connection. Linux, by default, does not configure drivers when
installing - this has to be done manually - one first needs to identify the
chipset of the modem and then download the appropriate drivers. It worked
1st go!! Sure was lucky I didn't have to recompile the kernel!!
- I now have… 8 caps (or beenies)!! Eli recently made me one that
automatically became my favourite. It's a “corker”!!
- It's 9:30pm and I still have to shower. Too bad that “Manam” shat in the
bath tub and I'm going to have to clean her mess before my mess!
- Life is tops!!
