Some of the rewards…
I have been running some IT Training courses here at Goroka General Hospital which all got of the ground about six weeks ago. “Introduction to Computers and OpenOffice” to be precise. Four groups have started so far…
Up to my neck…
Today was the busiest of days Between work-work, Rotary and assisting the folks back in the village with the setting up of an association – I’m up to my neck in work…
“Nau tasol mi kam bek pinis long ples”
A weekend in the village!
Left town with a head and a gut full of “stuff”,
And as the PMV began to career up the highway,
I could feel the weight slowly lift!…
Buzz… buzz… buzz…
Been of the air for the past few days!
Mainly due to weekend’s battle with “public enemy #1″…
“Public enemy No. 1 !!!”
Liva Lave or commonly known as Livex
The local wine – this one happens to be “Wild Fruits”
Packs quite a punch.
The locals mix it with lemonade or coke or sometimes even straight cordial.
I prefer it straight!…
Our next door neighbour…
Our next door neighbour Eli markets tirelessly. Most days and evenings there she is, out the front of her house – seeling betelnut, smokes and occasionally home made donuts and ice-blocks. When I head to work she is working her market and again when I head home – there she is sitting at her little market trying to make an extra few bucks. It’s the way of many PNG women – to try and make ends meet…
Mum’s birthday…
And thanks to VoIP technology we were able to call her on Skype and wish her the best of bestest days. We even got to see her on video! Happy birthday Mum!!! (74 and still kicking!)…
Beautiful Madang…
We got back safely this afternoon from Madang after a 5 to 6 hour PMV ride. It was a great weekend with our hosts – Nick, Bernadette and Valdek…
