I have finally managed to do a blog post from Linux.
This has involved the following challenges:
- Getting Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) installed on my Laptop and working without decimating Windows XP.
- Coming to terms with Grub bootloader and replacing Bootmagic.
- Getting the dialup working as this service is not automatically installed or activated when Linux is first installed. This task in itself went for a few days as I had to download a script which would tell what chipset my modem uses and then download, install and configure the appropriate driver.
- Finding an appropriate firewall, installing it and getting it to work over the dial-up link.
- Installed the AVG Virus Scanner for Linux.
- Downloading and installing the NoScript plugin for Firefox. Adds an additional level of security within a browser by blocking unwanted scripts.
And here I am…
Who would have thought?
By the way…
I getting to bed later and later each night!
Linux is starting to rule !!
Yeah!!
