I was just thinking of you…

(And here you are all dapper…)
Here you are back in the early 70′s.
How I miss you sometimes,
to share some of the stories,
from here in PNG.
And as you lay there gasping for your last breath,
we were there to hold you hand.
You weren’t alone.
You struggled,
and you suffered,
in those last few weeks.
I know,
Wish we could of held each other
in those final moments.
Father and son.
And there you are back in the early 70′s,
dapper and smart.
You had guts old man!
Took me years to realise
your strengths,
and the man that you were,
in the end it was perhaps too late.
The pain and grief that followed
after your loss
was a gift,
for I did learn one thing.
I had just lost…
the most important man in my life…
My Dad!!
Yes Dad… that’s you.
I thank you Dad,
for teaching me about what it is to be a man.
You taught me many things,
only in the later years did I realise.
Compassion for the living,
Integrity,
Dependability
and a sense of humour.
On this day Dad,
I remember you,
with fondness
and gratitude.
And of course love…

tingting bilong yu…
