Up to my neck…

Today was the busiest of days…

Between work-work, Rotary and assisting the folks back in the village with the setting up of an association - I'm up to my neck in work. Tis 9:30pm and I'm still working through my”To Do List” for the day. On top of that we had a weekly Rotary meeting this evening at the Bird of Paradise Hotel.

(Wish I was back in the village!!)

I remember a good friend telling me once - if you need something done - ask a busy person to do it for you!! How true this is. Lately, I seem to be asked by everyone around me to do little favours for them. Petty I cannot charge some bucks for each favour I do!

That's OK though… once my time is up - I would much rather be remembered for what I contributed than what I took!

The Rotary work is interesting at the moment as the club was given grant for a water project in a remote village in the Eastern Highlands called Koko. I seem to have become the Project Manager for this task by default. It's hard work but rewarding - we are hoping to have the water systems up and running by Xmas!

The work I am currently doing with the elders back in the village is interesting. Each day we are one step closer to registering an incorporated association. The process of where to start and whom to contact to find out details and “how to” is mind boggling - this makes sense as this is PNG and most government departments seem to go out of there way to keep the good old rural folks in the dark. This is where my skills and easy Internet access is making life for us a little easier. This vision is slowly taking shape and again I believe that the benefits of this work will end up paying of for many a clan folk.

Ah yes…  by the way Manam (our cat) is back with us after going wild in the village for a few days. Nothing like a tom cat chasing a bit of good old fashioned “bush” pussy!! Onya Manam!

Finally, I would like to confess to being totally obsessed last week… the aim of the excercise was to get my I-Mate synchronising with Evolution under Ubuntu Linux. Took me about five days of late nights, head scratching and some serious CLI work but in the end I beat the “fucker” !!!

(Excuse the language but there are times in the english language when the “F” word is highly appropriate).

And one more finally… I'm of to Moresby next week for a volunteer gathering and conference.

Good old POM!!  Out of all of the beautiful places that they could have chosen in PNG to have a volunteer gathering “they” choose fuckin Moresby!!

(There's that “F” word again!!)

There's a time to use the “F” word and then there's a time to call it quits…

And that's right now!!!
