I contributed K150 towards a coffin!
First time for everything. Bubu Kandoni (Eli's maternal pops) passed away yesterday morning and I thought the least I could do was help out the family with a contribution. One of those things about living in PNG and being a part of a clan - these “expenses” do come up from time to time. Note that I gladly contributed what I did as I had great respect for the old man. He was definitely a character.
Once again the house is close to full - well not quite full but it certainly feels like it. If only one's life was judged by how many mouths one had fed - I'd think I'd be guaranteed a place close to the throne. Dependency is a fact of life here in PNG and something that needs to me managed pro actively.
Two days away from xmas and I'm sad that I won't be with the family back in Sydney. Xmas has always been a time of gathering and this year I'm staying put in the Land of the Unexpected. In a way it's kind of nice to be removed from the commercial aspect of this time of year - which is full-on - to say the least in downtown Sydney.
I will be heading to the “hut” within the next couple of days and sure looking forward to
a little over a week in the village. Might even get around to submersing myself in the cold running stream of the river when washing. (I can already feel that ache around the groin area!).
Linux has got me by the short and curlies - been a long time since I have been this compulsive about something to do with computers - it has been for ages that when it's knock-of time - it's knock-of time. Nowadays - when it's knock-of time it's clock-on time! The depth and flexibility of Linux is amazing - at a price though! Thge hacker emerges! Have'nt quite reached the stage yet of compiling my own kernel! All things aside - I certainly recommend Ubuntu as a viable alternative to MS Gates.
The dogs bark… and bark… and fuckin bark!
9:00pm and I'm going to have a chat with Mum on Skype.
Kets.
