We arrived back safely from “Waraguma” a couple of hours ago. Like always our stay in the village was both relaxing and refreshing.
Highlights from the weekend (in point form) are as follows:
- Anthony, our irish friend from UNITECH in Lae spent the weekend with us. It's always nice to share the specialness of village life with close friends.
- We met with a group Keto clansmen on Sunday afternoon. There would have been a good 100 locals that turned up for the meeting. including many elders and leaders. The meeting was to discuss the possibility of the four Keto clans joining the Association. Feedback and response was very positive and at this stage it looks like all the eight clans will support the setup and registration of the “Keto-Tapasi Combined Association”. All systems go!!!
- Seeing (and hearing) Manam (the cat) devour three huge rats within a space of one hour! Unbelievable!! Each rat was roughly a quarter of the size of Manam. Uncle Joel remarked that it was the equivalent of a human devouring three whole pigs!!! Go Manam! At least the place is now rat free – for the next little while anyway.
- The xmas tree was “ablaze” once again! The local fireflies sure put on a grand show. The same tree as last time… flashing just like a xmas tree!!
- Enough for now. Hope you all had a great Australia Day and weekend.
