Interestingly, I heard on the grapevine that the Governor of EHP – Mr Kela Smith (an Australian himself), tried his best to have the Australian volunteers excluded from being invited to the lunch, apparently a little pressure from the AUSAID folks in Moresby were able to change his mind. Onya Kela! Goes to show that some things are even bigger than the Governor himself.

On another note…

I’m of to Upper Bean tomorrow with my mate Norm. There’s something happening on the Tuesday to celebrate the departure of a local sing-sing group whom are heading to Canada for 6 weeks for some cultural displays and exchange. I’m particularly looking forward to watching some sugar cane swallowing, a local custom for the men, and sleeping in the haus man on the Monday night.

I’m meeting Norm in town at around 10am Monday morning and should be back early afternoon on the Tuesday.
