That this blog migration project is going to be a mammoth exercise!
Between getting the new one setup and keeping the current one up and running – there's going to be little time to move all of my old posts across to the new format.
Cutting across plain text posts is pretty easy with available
import/export tools. The issue is going to be with the embedded photos and links. These will all have to be updated manually – three years worth!!
Not to mention the photos!
I reckon there's a good month's full-time work involved. And that's if I had access to a high speed connection rather than the piddly dial-up which I'm presently stuck with.
The up side is that I will gain skills in setting up websites, blogs and
photo galleries with Open Source technologies. 49 and still a tech-head at heart!
The fiddling and learning is tops! Something I dearly love about the IT industry – always something new to learn!
Who knows here it's all going to lead…
More will be revealed…
Patience bro!
And one of my current challenges…
How to:
1) Design a logo and web page header.
2) How to get the dam thing up on the web page!
The question then arises…
What tool to use to design and build the logo?
In Open Source remember.
Searching, searching, searching…
Google it all the way to Googal!!!
10 raised to the 100.
And then some…
Full stop!
