A huge donation in kind arrived this week via DHL courtesy Vitalize Consulting Solutions – 13x Gateway Latops !! Absolutely unbelievable! A kind and very generous act if I may say so.
I was originally contacted about 6 weeks ago via email by Andy their IT Administrator after one of the Vitalize Consulting Solutions executives found my blog whilst surfing and must have read the Give-Away section. Several emails were exchanged and then on Monday this week… Bingo!! The local DHL courier turns up with three decent sized boxes…

(The 3 boxes delivered by DHL earlier this week)

(Couldn’t wait to unpack the contents… 13x Gateway Laptops)
To the management of Vitalize Consulting Solutions… the “huge-est” of thank you’s !!
I have not yet decided who these laptops will be given to but so far the tentative plan is to share them out as follows:
- 7x to be given to Goroka General Hospital
- 1x will go to Martin – a local blind man (1st PNG’ean blind person to graduate from a local University)
- 1x will be donated to the Chairperson of the recently established Keto-Tapasi Progress Association
- 1x to go to a local school.
- 1x seriously considering giving to my partner Eli.
- 2x as yet undecided.
Note: as each laptop is given out to individuals further stories, details and photos will be posted here.
As with all of Donations in Kind – I maintain a log/record of what is sent. To have a squizz at this record/log and other information on the wishlist/give-away gig you can click here.

Are you going to load Ubuntu on them?
Is the Pope a catholic?

Wow!!!!
What an awesome donation! THANKYOU Vitalize Consulting Solutions.
I’m looking forward to following up on where these laptops end up and what lives they will change.
Unbelievable.
Stay tuned bro!!

That is great news. I too would like to hear about how these are used as I think it will be a very intereting story especially the one for Martin.
I will post updates as they come in.
So far – I have not done much – been fairly busy with other stuff.
Also, I am finding that some of batteries are stuffed. So will probably end up hanging on to a few (laptops) as spare parts. Either way – 6 will go the Hospital and the rest I will distribute accordingly.
So far one is earmarked for Martin (the blind fellow) and also one for my partner Eli.

Ah yes!
If there is anyone out there aware of any good software for blind folks that will run on Ubuntu – please let me know. I know of one Windows product called “Jaws” and will need to research equivalent for our mate Martin.

Really great to see this kind of donation. As Tavurvur said I too look forward to seeing how these are used. Great job vitalize consulting!
A quick note on these donations….
I have already given around 10 of these away but have yet to do a short write up on this blog. One of the laptops went to a blind guy called Martin – an amazing man and an inspiration to us all. Martin is the 1st blind person to graduate from a PNG University and is already competent at touch typing.
Stories and photos to follow shortly.
