Most bloggers would be well aware that from time to time it’s an almost impossible task to find the motivation to write about something. Today’s one of those days and yet here I am pushing myself to get something posted.
In actual fact there’s a 101 things that I could be writing about but today I’m just going to give you a point form list of “tidbits“:
1) For five days this week I am attending an “Induction into the PNG Public Service” course at the National Institute of Sports (NSI). The best thing about the course is that NSI is just a 2 minute stroll from home. The whole induction thing doesn’t really do it for me – between you, me and 100 billion readers – I’ve been attending the course of a morning, going home for lunch and never quite making it back to NSI in the PM. Slacker!!!
2) For some unknown reason and ever since we had the fire a couple of weeks ago – both Eli and myself have been harassed by a local CID copper – this policeman – apparently a wantok of the landlord – has for some bizarre reason decided to threaten us with eviction. When he (policeman) approached me at work last week and started to carry on, I just walked of and told him bluntly to go speak with the Hospital’s Property Manager. Not sure where this one will lead – or – good/bad who knows?
3) Eli’s Mum arrived from Lae this afternoon and will head to her village (near Watabung) early tomorrow morning. Eli’s Mum and Dad have recently decided on a temporary separation and Eli’s Mum has come up to the Highlands to stay in her village (Fatao) for some rest and reflection time.
4) I have come to an agreement with the Hospital to stay on for another 12 months and therefore extend my contract. We have initiated the required procedures with Australian Volunteers International (AVI).
5) No matter what happens I will be back in Sydney by February, 2009. Apart from the fact that my passport expires in March and therefore needs renewing, most of my fillings have fallen out recently and I am coming to a point where I will need some major dental work. Will I bring Eli with me to Australia? That is a very good question. One of the disadvantages of being as poor as a church mouse is the lack of freedom when it comes to those things that cost bucks.
6) My meditation routine has definitely gone out the door – I have not sat down cross legged in a quiet space for around three months now. Understandably, all those dormant neurosis are slowly finding there way back into my life and my thinking. The proof lies in the number of “I’s” and “Me’s” that I have written since “6″.
7) The street boys and sellers of Goroka town continue to be a source of great solace for me. Most afternoons you will find me wandering around West Goroka or Red Corner, chewing and sharing stories with these people. If the outcome of elections was determined by the raskols, street sellers and half wits of Goroka town then there would certainly be a vacancy for me in the halls of power of the Eastern Highlands.

(Some of the street boys from West Goroka take some time out from their “busy” schedule to enjoy a swig or two of the local wine “Livex” – click here to view more photos from West Goroka.)
8) I have yet to do some more writing on our time in the village a few weeks ago when the Keto-Tapasi clans gathered to celebrate the incorporation of their own association. The story on how I got “annointed” chief of the eight clans is yet to come. Please be patient and stay tuned (or glued).
9) The intracacies and mechanics of blogging with Wordpress remains a passion – perhaps even an obsession. I just can’t help it. “Kaizen” continues to drive me to evolve, improve and take my blog towards perfection. With Wordpress 2.7 about to be released – there is defintely no rest for the wicked. A feature I added recently that you might be interested in is the ability to subscribe to Trupela Tok via email updates. Click here to check out this new feature.
10) And yes… point 10!! Last but not least and finally the end of another post. Despite not being motivated at the start – stream of conciousness has somehow managed to find form.

Robert,
Funny thing, I followed a link to a site called Alexa (web information company) which referred a person to my Blog and it lists Robert@PNG as the highest hit PNG website.
Robert@PNG even beats PNGBD and both the PC and The National and Air Niugini. I’m not kidding.
Check out this link for the Top PNG Blogs by traffic rankings:

What are you doing Robert? haha
Elementary my dear Watson!
It’s called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
You will find many articles on the subject – in my opinion there’s three things that ultimately impact the ranking of a site:
1) Content
2) Aesthetics
3) SEO
Up until 6 months ago I thought SEO was an acronym for a corporate executive. The last few months and ever since I moved to Wordpress – this whole area has become a passion. Interestingly the more I get into it – the more complex it seems to become. Having said that there are some basic rules of thumb that one can apply to improve ones rankings.
Most (if not all) other blogs around PNG focus mainly on content and not on the other two points. I have spread myself evenly across all three. This is probably why my blog scores better in the rankings – not necessarily because my content is superior. Your blog ma man… has content that is absolutely exceptional – with a little bit of tweaking – you would zoom straight past me on the Alexa scale.
A little tweak here and a little tweak there…
