Photos from the Madang trip

Here’s a few of the photos I managed to take on our recent trip to Madang. This was my 2nd time to this Nth Coast town of Papua New Guinea. The first time was around this time last year and as with our 1st visit this trip was also motivated to catch up with our friends Nick and Bernadette. On this occasion we were there to witness the baptism of their daughter Salote all the way out at Bogia.

Here’s the mandatory google map to give you a quasi point of reference…

Also worth noting is that whilst in Madang I took the opportunity to catch up with Mrs. Christine Gawi (Acting CEO of Modilon Hospital) – we chatted about all things IT and the associated challenges in a PNG Hospital environment. I enjoyed meeting Mrs. Gawi and our discussions were most productive.

All of the photos from this trip can be found in this photo album. In the meantime let me share with you a few of my favourites:

Catholic Church at Bogia

(The Catholic Church at Bogia where Salote was baptised)

Salote's baptism

(Father Michael does the deed together with Nick and Bernadette)

Manam Island

( A view of Manam Island – one of the worlds most active volcanoes – taken from a beach about 20 minutes drive north of Bogia)

Anua Negu Lodge at Bogia

(The guest house we stayed at in Bogia. In the local language “Anua Negu” means “Our Home”)

Nick, Martin and their Dad taken at Usino Junction

(Nick, Dad and Martin – standing next to the PMV that took us from Madang back to the Highlands – probably the most comfortable long distance PMV ride I have ever experienced)

How was the guest house? I live in Goroka and would like to take my motorbike all the way to the end of the N.C. road. You you recomend it as a place to stay?
