Paddy and Sean are walking past the Cathedral and Paddy days to Sean…’You ain’t been to confession for over a year…. go in now’.
Sean agrees and in the confessional tells the priest… ‘Father I have sinned, I have been with a woman’.
Father Shea asks… ‘Is it that lass Shirley O’Flarerty?’ ‘Father I can’t be tellin yer that’ says Sean.
‘Is it the widow O’Neil?’ ‘Father I can’t be tellin no names’ says Sean.
Father Shea says…. ‘If you’ll not confess fully I can’t be absolving you’. At which Sean leaves the confessional.
Outside Paddy asks how it went.
Sean replies… ‘He wouldn’t absolve me, but I got two very good leads’.
