PNG Sorcery Act 1971

last night I was perusing the PNG Sorcery Act 1971 and found no reference, legislation or act that gives community leaders, clergymen, local magistrates nor any other person – the right to kill anybody that is accused of witchcraft or sanguma. How are these folks then able to justify their actions?

The Inquisition a la Highlands style

It would appear that the Inquisition is alive and very active in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea. If today’s story (see below) in The National is true and folks are able to use the Bible and the name of God to justify this type atrocity then something very sick has happened to Christianity in this country

The almost four years I have lived and worked in Papua New Guinea I have managed to collect quite a number of photos of these precious folks and in this post I would like to share some of these with you

10 Things I thought about on Australia Day 2009

I look up at the Akubra hat hanging up on the lounge room wall and reflect on Australia Day and what it means to be an Australian. As an aussie living and working in another country I reflect on all that is fair dinkum and those people, places and things that I left behind four years ago to come and work as a volunteer in the Land of the Unexpected – Papua New Guinea
