I don’t say this lightly. For 10 months I have not owed PNG Power one toea (cent) – yet our meter number remains with a “blocked” classification. This limits where and when we are able to purchase power credits (EasyPay). I know many a decent, hard-working and debt aware folks that have experienced a similar inconvenience. The utter inefficiency of PNG Power’s accounting processes coupled with a deteriorating quality of their power supply – without a doubt supports the macabre drive to bring this country to its knees.

Hi R
First Happy New Year to you.
I totally agree with you about PNG Power sucking big time. For example a couple of months ago PNG Power in Port Moresby decided to update their database. So what they decided to do was put blocks on peoples Easy Pay system so that people could not top up their Easy Pay at their normal outlet. Instead customers were required to go into the PNG Power Head Office at Hohola and fill in a details update sheet before they could top up their power. The problem I had with it was that my Easy Pay ran out on a Saturday morning, but since the PNG Power Head office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays I was not able to get any power for the whole weekend just because PNG Power wanted to update its database. Just another example of PNG Powers poor customer service.

Hi Wantok,
Thanks for your comment. It’s good to know that we’re not alone. Perhaps if the PNG folks took out a class action against PNG Power we might finally get to see some improvement with their service. One of the disadvantages on a monopoly is the arrogance displayed towards customers.
Shame on you PNG Power!!
