Most afternoons you will catch me going for a stroll around West Goroka. Whether its buying groceries at the local Bitangor or Rainbow Stores, having a chin wag with the street boys or just having a chew at one of the many buai markets, its all the same – an excuse to mix, interact, spin some bullshit and crack a joke or two with anyone around at the time.
The day before I left for Australia a few weeks ago I went for a wander with Eli into West Goroka and she managed to snap a couple of yours truly.
This might sound pretty odd but these afternoon strolls around West Goroka and the interaction I have with the locals has become a solace and relief from the intensity that day to day life can be when one lives and works in a Papua New Guinea town.
