This blog is currently out of action

Unfortunately I have had to take this blog offline. It seems that some of the stories and photos I have posted over the past two days in relation to the looting and riots in Goroka have not gone down too well in certain circles. As much as I love this blog and sharing with you the good, the bad and the ugly side  of the Land of the Unexpected – under the circumstances I feel that I need to respect this request.

The current situation around the country is very tense and elements of my reporting have been been deemed as highly inappropriate. As much as I subscribe to the right to free speech I also acknowledge that I’m a guest and visitor in this country and as an Australian volunteer I signed a code of conduct at the beginning of my assignment in 2005. Which basically means that I need to respect the wishes of those that have invited me here.

Although I have always aimed to share with you life and circumstances in PNG from my own personal experience – without attacking anyone personally – I accept that there are times when truth can be a double edged sword and the power of the pen needs to be swung with great discernment and caution.

I will continue to push out posts as usual via this blog’s RSS feed. If you have never used a newsreader and wish to continue reading Trupela Tok – now’s probably an excellent time to find out what news feeds and readers are all about.

Needless to say that the stories  I  publish from this moment on will be of a more subdued nature (certainly from a politically nature).

I wish my readers all the very best and lets hope that this doesn’t go any further than what it already has and slowly dies a nice quite and quick death.

Such is life!
