After almost three years in a volunteer role as the IT Manager of Goroka General Hospital, today was my last day on the job and with that, my time as an Australian volunteer slowly but surely draws to an end.
A very emotional day indeed with many of us exchanging tears and hugs. Such is life – like a book with many chapters – requiring the closure to one chapter before one can move on and start writing the next instalment.
After the feelings dissipate the challenges of life always remain – totally oblivious and inane to the idiosyncrasies and tribulations of life. And after the crying and feeling sorry for oneself subside there remains that one guiding principle for males everywhere… “A man’s got to do what a man’s got do”!!
What does the next chapter hold for this here Robert? PNG is certainly within view but the how, the when and the what remain somewhat of a mystery. Some draft notes and ideas abound – the final version will unfold as it unfolds and more will be revealed in due course. First to me and then to you of course!
