Presentations on PNG

I’ve been back in Oz now for one week and although I deeply miss Eli and of course many other aspects of Papua New Guinea, I am thoroughly enjoying the time with family, friends and also Sydney life generally.

People speak of reverse culture shock and I’m still waiting for it to hit. Although the two countries and cultures are vastly different there is much joy and fulfilment in having the freedom to travel and move between both worlds.

PNG is alleged to be one of the most violent, corrupt and chaotic countries in the world. With the myriad of negative publicity and travel warnings stipulating extreme caution one cannot be blamed for arriving at this conclusion. Fortunately there is another side to PNG very different to the reports and through a series of presentations and story telling I would like to share a unique aspect of this beautiful country, culture and people.

Here are several suggestions for presentation topics which will be tailored depending on the target audience: (English or Tok Pisin)

  • The Volunteer experience.
  • Slide shows with running comments.
  • Anecdotes and humorous stories.
  • 10 Tips that will almost guarantee your safety
  • The PNG Village.
  • The PNG Town Settlement.
  • An overview of PNG History and Geography.
  • The challenges and social issues.
  • Highlands custom and tribal lore.
  • Poetry readings.
  • Questions and Answers.
  • Tok Pisin (Pidgin) for beginners.

If you interested in such a presentation or are aware of any organisations, schools or community groups with such a need please let me know via the Contact form.
