After Google recently updated it’s PageRank (PR) algorithm – ranking for Trupela Tok jumped from a 5 to a 7. Google PR is the current de-facto for ranking popularity of web pages and considering that until last week I had posted zilch for a whole 6 months – this change to my blog’s ranking came as an unexpected surprise.
Most readers could not give a rats arse about my PR (don’t blame you) – some unfortunately might be feeling a little envious (stiff shit) – but at least a few – I would hope – would be thinking “onya Rob” !!
You will now be able to tell your friends: “I know someone who’s website has a PRĀ 7″ !!

Google describes PageRank:
PageRank reflects our view of the importance of web pages by considering more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results.
PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote, as votes from some pages are considered to have greater value, thus giving the linked page greater value. We have always taken a pragmatic approach to help improve search quality and create useful products, and our technology uses the collective intelligence of the web to determine a page’s importance.
I don’t want to rub it in folks (well perhaps I do) but Trupela Tok remains the number one ranked website in Papua New Guinea according to Alexa. I just checked! Go here if you don’t believe me.
And whilst I’m rubbing it in… I’ve have not been able to find another Papua New Guinea based website with a Google PR of 7.
To those wanting to improve their ranking here’s 10 Simple Tips from the “master” – your website /blog must be:
- Pleasing to the eye (aesthetics)
- Grabs attention (content)
- Of interest to other websites (back links)
- Search Engine friendly and optimised (SEO)
- Semantically correct (validation)
- Updated regularly (frequency)
- Easy to find things (navigation)
- Fast to load (performance)
- Tidy up broken links (maintenance)
- Have an open mind (variety)

I am immensely proud of you, son. Keep up the good work! You know I do love reading your blog. M
Hi Rob, great result … But !
Based on your web site …. missing in action for 7 months…. does that not constitute inactivity and hence the ranking dropping considerably ? ie, to point # 6 above : Updated Regularly
: ) John
Excellent point bro!
I suppose had there been more “frequency” of positing over past 7 months then surely my PR would have hit a “9″.
What do you think?

Who is AW?, or am I not to ask?
Your answer to the last comment came through at 4.20am. What are you doing at that time of the morning? M
AW is a mate from the local Rotary club.
And yep… some days I’m up by 4am.
Between the barking dogs, drunken louts and generators that sound like trucks… it’s mostl;y hard to sleep.
