For many years - Saturday mornings have been my favourite time of the week. Now that I have lived and worked in Goroka for almost two years this little quirk still holds true. Most Saturday mornings you will find the two of us wandering around town, interacting with locals and clan members that we happen to bump into, having a chew and a joke with the street sellers, perhaps doing a little shopping at the main markets and occasionally having a couple with Uncle Fred down at “Las Wara”…

Yesterday I stayed home and had a good old fashioned “sicky”. By 8am in the morning I had already made four very fast trips to the thunderbox - a case of being genuinely crook - so I decided to stay at home and take it easy. The old tummy had a mind of its own and would of kept a team of gastro specialists busy for hours. Never mind - an upset stomach (from time to time) is something that all folks living in the tropics learn to live with…
