When the Police become Judge and Executioner

Last week prominent PNG business man – Sir George Constantinou – was stoned to death by thugs near the Tete settlement in Port Moresby. The story of this brutal and senseless murder appeared in the Wednesday’s edition of The National. A couple of days later another story was published about how the Police had gone in and razed Tete settlement to the ground

Blog now at WordPress 2.7

Despite what I said the other day about not upgrading for a while – I went ahead anyway. Been secretly trying out 2.7 on a Test Blog I setup for the purpose. Latest build of K2 with 50 odd plugins and all seems in order. No major dramas touch wood!

Chilli oil fumes works wonders

Funny thing since we started burning fresh chilli oil – the noisy arseholes of neighbours from next door have been very quite. All we heard when we got up this morning was some coughing and spluttering. Long live grandma’s remedies!!

Photos from the Madang trip

Here’s a few of the photos I managed to take on our recent trip to Madang. This was my 2nd time to this Nth Coast town of Papua New Guinea. The first time was around this time last year and as with our 1st visit this trip was also motivated to catch up with our friends Nick and Bernadette. On this occasion we were there to witness the baptism of their daughter Salote all the way out at Bogia

Laxatives and sleeping pills

Never take a laxative and a sleeping pill just before going to sleep!!

Back from Madang

We got back from Madang at around lunch time on Tuesday. Five days away from the hustle and bustle of life in Goroka turned out to be very relaxing. It was also nice to catch up with Nick and Bernadette and spend a couple of days in Bogia. The North Coast of Papua New Guinea is beautiful and I totally understand why many expats choose to settle down there – however, it was good to come back home, to the familiar surroundings and also the coolness of Highlands weather
