Decisions…

Decisions…  decisions…

Just when I thought my time in PNG was going really really slow !!

I happened to be reading through my AVI contract the other night and noted that my contract here at UNITECH is due to expire December 2006 and not April 2007 as I had assumed.

As they say…   never ass-u-me anything !!

Obviously I will need to start putting some thought to “beyond 2006″ - sooner rather than later. Since reading the contract the other night I have been doing a lot of thinking as to how happy I am here at UNITECH. The teaching is great and continues to be a great source of fulfillment for me. The management and leadership here are something else and an area that continues to trigger a great deal of frustration.

So what are my options ?

1) Stay on at UNITECH for another semester in a volunteer capacity.
2) Accept an offer by UNITECH to go on a 1,2 or 3 year teaching contract as a fully paid ex-pat.
3) Head back downunder at xmas and rejoin the corporate machine.
4) Seek an “ex-pat” position in the IT Industry here in PNG.
5) Go “bush” and live in a PNG village for a year or two
6) Start my own business in PNG.
7) Apply for another volunteer assignment in PNG or elsewhere.
8) Head to Burma and do the monastery thing.
9) Put an “ad” in the local paper(s) outlining my skills and attributes.
10) Write a book on my experiences in PNG and do the “speakers” circuit.

Options…  options…  options !!

And yes….   Eli is now also part of this decision process.

More will be revealed - to both of us.

And of course…   the best is yet to come !!

Decisons…  decisions…  decisions !!
