Volunteering does have it’s fringe benefits !!

Dinner with vollies at the Lae International

Last night the Lae volunteers gathered at the Lae International Hotel for dinner courtesy of the AVI staff Richard and Mary.

The above photo was taken last night and going clockwise starting from the left we have : Richard (AVI Staff), Anthony (volunteer - UNITECH), Nathan (volunteer - Anglican Church), Robert (volunteer - UNITECH), Mary (AVI Staff), Jane (volunteer - ADRA) and Geoff (volunteer - UNITECH)

In few words : a most enjoyable evening. It was great to finally meet some of the AVI staff that work very hard behind the scenes to make our stay in PNG as pleasurable and as problem free as possible. There exists a special bond between the volunteers as we have all to some level put our lives on hold to embark upon this adventure.

Working as a volunteer certainly has its fair share of challenges and at times can be extremely frustrating but if I was to summarise the whole experience I would have to say that its been very very worthwhile.
