Back from Simbu…

Arrived back in Lae from “Boku” village safely late this afternoon. The experience over the past few days in the Simbu village is definitely beyond words.

I have roughly 200 photos to post from the trip and from what I have seen so far they have turned out pretty dam nice (if I may say so). Rather than write up a long winded chronological account of my 5 days in the Highlands I am aiming to write a number of short stories which hopefully will cover “most” of what happened.

If I was to describe the “Boku” experience in one word - I would have to say : “Belonging”. Going there with Eli, her father and younger brother added a special touch to my stay in this remote Simbu ples kanaka. Belonging and inter-connection seem to have all but disappeared from our western societies. The tribal experience was absolutely magic.

Speaking of magic….  I am now convinced that some of the “strange” phenomenon that are the norm amongst shamanic cultures are real.

Very real.

Stay tuned.
