Another Move (Written 20/2/07)

We moved yesterday from Mendikwae Lodge down to the Hospital
grounds into a house commonly known as the Transit House. This is our 2nd
move in less than a week and I’m starting to get the jack of living out of a
suitcase. Considering what other Papua New Guineans live in, the quality of
accommodation is more than acceptable, at least we now have hot water!

Two surprise visitors today: Jessica and her father, David.
The two will be staying with us tonight. Jessica is the girl with whom Eli
spent some months working with late 2006 and early 2007 in three remote PNG
villages. Right now the three of them are out and about Goroka town doing a bit
of sightseeing.

Regarding my work situation, the excitement is growing by
the day. From early discussions with Hospital Management there could very well
be opportunities to setup a joint IS project between other Hospitals around
PNG. Until I move into my new office, I actually share a working space with the
Hospital’s CEO, Dr Jo Apa.

UNITECH… eat your heart out!

Later this afternoon I will head up town to the local
Kickboxing Club, they have classes two times per week. I bumped into a couple
of students from the Lae Schools (surprise, surprise!!) and also caught up with
John Wal (Chief Instructor), whom recently moved up from Lae with his family to
take up a Security Manager’s Position with one of the local Papindo stores.
This time round I am keen to train rather than “patron”. Some form of regular
exercise will do me the world of good and the nature of kickboxing will draw me
closer to the “street” element and therefore allow me to get involved with some
worthwhile youth projects.

It’s now around 4pm and I’m out of here…  (Work, that is).

By the way… still off the smokes!!!
