I love the PNG markets. A place to go and pickup cheap fruit
and veggies just before dinner time, a place where locals gather, share stories
and watch the world go by. We are lucky - there are markets just around the
corner from where we are staying on the Hospital grounds. Cama maket. A busy four way crossroads with a few grocery and beer
stores, just around the corner from the Institute of Medical Research (IMR).
a little teary eyed, emotional like. If you want to experience PNG interaction
at its best the markets is the place to do it. When I return from the markets I
have normally just experienced a good dose of interaction, stories and
laughter. As I have shared many times already, the Papua New Guineans have an
excellent sense of humour and a good belly laugh is nerver far away. Tok Pisin is a must to get to know this
side of the locals.
So why the emotion after visiting a market?
Makes me aware how much I love living and working here.
Sinks me into a dreamlike state like.
Love, compassion and interaction.
Humanity at its best.
No violence or rage,
No pillage or rape,
No pain or hate,
No differences.
Just…
Equality,
Lightness,
Laughter,
And the feeling of the earth as I walk.
Markets!
Papua New Guinea Style!

“And the feeling of the earth as I walk.”
