Having a continuous stream of visitors and guests… (Written 30/4/07)

Does have its advantages!

No house work!

Kind of suits me really. No cooking,
washing clothes, housecleaning, washing up or gardening! All choirs are taken
care of by the resident women folk. A man could sure get lazy around here (and
does!).

There is no roster of any sort and people
do not get asked or told to contribute if they stay over. With the love PNG
people have for gardening, there is never a shortage of a green finger around
the yard. The garden is looking absolutely gorgeous! Fruits, vegetables,
flowers and herbs! There’s a continuous supply of all sorts of flowers and Eli
always makes sure that the vases we have in the lounge room are spruced up with
the most amazing colors.

What are my jobs around the home? (I hear
you ask).

I make the coffee for starters and also do
the shopping. It is also my responsibility to lock the front gate of a night. I
feed the dog and make sure it has a fresh supply of water every morning. Paper
work? Well, that’s my responsibility too. At the moment I have an application
in with Telekom PNG for the phone to be connected and that was my job to
organise. And of course there’s the bills! Yep, I look after the bills!

I have an agreement with Eli, the day she
finds work and starts contributing money to the running of the household, that
day and that day only I will take on my share of work around the home. It all
balances out really as Eli really enjoys the house work and takes pride in ensuring
that our home is always spic and span.

An example of team work perhaps?
