I own an I-Mate, it’s a Pocket PC or
handheld type device, a lucky door prize I won at a breakfast meeting late
2004. This would be my 3rd or 4th handheld device that I
have owned.
The I-Mate has been my companion and personal
organizer for the past 3 years. Goes with me everywhere, well almost all
places! I look after it like a little baby as I need it to last. It’s my memory
and diary as well as a few other things.
It has many features and although it’s a
few years old, as far as I’m concerned it remains current technology. Heaven
forbid the day it breaks down or even gets stolen. A sad day that will be!
I use it for the following:
-
Calendar come diary.
-
Address book and contacts.
-
Keep track of “To do lists”.
-
To remind me of birthdays and
anniversaries.
-
Alarm Clock.
-
Timer (meditation).
-
Mobile phone and SMS texting.
-
Synchronisation of calendar, address book, To Do Lists and files
with laptop.
It has many other features which I don’t
use such as: camera, dictaphone and MP3 player. There is also a bunch of
software which I rarely use like: MS Word and Excel, the equivalent of a
Powerpoint program and a handheld version of Acrobat Reader.
The list is almost complete…
How could I ever forget “Solitaire”!!
How could I forget!
Some might even suggest that I’m obsessed!
It is quite possible that I have played
more Solitaire on a handheld device than anyone in history. Let’s have a closer
look!
I have owned a handheld device now for
approximately six years.
I always play a few games before going to
sleep and a conservative estimate would put this at an average of lets say 25
games per day.
So… now for a little arithmetic:
25 games per day x 365 days in a year x 6
years = 54,750 games of solitaire on a handheld device!
I knew there was a claim to fame somewhere…
